The U-shaped plan is located on a corner lot in a fairly dense suburban neighbor- hood. This allows for the organization of public and private spaces around a central courtyard while taking advantage of light and access to the garden. The layout of the house is formal and symmetrical with a low arched entry hall that opens up to a two-story living room. The living room features exposed rafters
and a fireplace situated on the central axis of the house. This space is accessible to the gardens beyond and marks the start of the courtyard. The master suite extends along one end of the courtyard while the garage, laundry, kitchen and breakfast room flank the other end.
